Wow! It’s almost spring. The glorious sunshine is bringing a renewed sense of hope and action for the remainder of 2020. Our teams have been doing an amazing job of adapting and pivoting to continue to work with communities and individuals from Tasmania to Queensland; Western Australia to New Zealand. We hope everyone is well and looking after your physical and mental health as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be ever present.
We are excited to launch out new look Jeder Yarns, that mirrors our new branding (logo) and our fresh new look website. Our new logo represents energy, connection, positivity and features four dots that reflects the 4 core pillars of Jeder Institute. It’s been a journey and there are still updates happening behind the scenes.
Earlier this year Jeder team members, Michaela Kennedy and Rachel Dickson redeveloped and began running a 10-week course (1 day/week) on Person Centred Lifestyle Planning. As times changed and we all had to adjust to the ‘new normal’, Michaela and Rachel have continued to run these courses, now on Zoom.
The course is a blend of reflective practice and person centred frameworks and involves many opportunities for group work and sharing ideas with others. Running from 9am until 3.30pm, with a long lunch break in the middle, each week opens with a presentation and Q&A session with a reputable and often, international guest speaker. This element of the course alone makes it a unique and worthwhile opportunity for you to be a part of.
Throughout the course, participants are able to learn about and implement a wide range of frameworks, practising on themselves before venturing out and supporting others to do the same. Participants will finish the course with a One-Page Profile and a draft Lifestyle Plan, and will have tasks for completion between the sessions.
Open to anyone interested in learning more about Person Centred Practices, the course is well suited to disability support professionals and others supporters including parents and family members. The mix of participants in each course also make it a worthwhile opportunity to hear different viewpoints and to ?ne tune your skills in the core elements of person centredness – unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence. If you are interested and would like to know more see the detail below.
We love receiving feedback from people and communities we work with and are delighted to share, what others are saying:
I found the training relevant and current to the work we do in supporting people to live a more meaningful and ful lled lives. I found the training to be applicable to any person, therefore, I bene t from it personally and professionally. It was worth the investment. The training is practical and down to earth, therefore, I found it easy to apply to my work and my personal life. I found that the training encouraged and motivated me to think differently about how to provide a better support and service. Thank you.
I have participated in various person centred training over the past two decades. The team at Jeder never disappoint. I most appreciate the trainers depth of applied knowledge on the topic, and their immersive and practical approach to learning this values based practice. I highly recommend Jeder to anyone who is looking for high quality and authentic person centred training.
In September, Dee, Fiona and Michelle are excited to be a part of the Neighbourhood House Tasmania Conference 2020, and we invite our Tasmania friends to join them.
Until next month, please enjoy our Jeder Yarns.
Yours in Community,
Team Jeder
